I can tell you right now, I’m very much looking forward to my California vacation. NINETEEN DAYS and counting. I need a break from work and I cannot wait to see my family. Especially my cousin Mira Joy, whom I actually think of as more of a younger sister. Love that girl to pieces, even if she IS a Giants fan. (Baseball rivalries for the win!)
The last week and a half has been insane. My schedule at work keeps changing. I work late then work early. I’ve been so exhausted and have been working then crashing. I have managed to sneak in some fun with friends, which has been greatly needed, but even that was difficult to do.
Last Tuesday I had a bestie date day with my newest best friend, the one I refer to as either Twitchy or Trouble. We relaxed at his house. He grilled some burgers and I made a pasta salad and then we watched The Chernobyl Diaries (I’d seen it before but he never had and we’re both obsessed with Chernobyl) after we played with his kids. The boy has the two cutest kids ever. I adore them completely. They also seem to adore me which is awesome. I love getting my baby love fix with his daughter and his son is just the cutest little kid ever. He’s gonna be a heart breaker, that one. Just like his dad :P
Then last Wednesday I played around with a recipe and ended up making Salted Chocolate Cream Pots with Caramel Sauce – which came out AH-mazingly, if I do say so myself. I shared them with a few friends, Twitchy being one of them – and also made Chocolate Chip Baked Oatmeal Cups for a quick and pretty healthy breakfast on the go for my early mornings! After baking all day, I spent that night having dinner with a new friend (who happens to be Twitchy’s roommate) and watching Sleepy Hollow at their house.
This most recent Tuesday night, Twitchy and I had a bestie movie date and saw Godzilla in 3D. We literally had the entire theater to ourselves and had a great time. The movie was actually pretty darn great. Definitely not the best movie in the world, but highly enjoyable. And much better than the last Godzilla movie. I especially loved the final battle. FanTASTIC! If you have any interest in Godzilla, go see it. You won’t be sorry.
I’ve not seen C again since that first date. We had made plans to see each other this last Friday, but I had to postpone them because of a 4am shift Saturday morning. But we already have tentative plans for next week, and I am going come hell or high water! We’ve been texting a lot since that last date and I a definitely excited to see him again.
So … I have news on that crush I mentioned previously. He actually made a move. We were just sitting around and talking and the next thing I knew, he had kissed me. I stopped him. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, because I did – in fact, it’s messed with my head a bit. But I’m trying to move on and I’m pretty sure he just did it because he figured he could. I’ve actually been pretty upset with him because of it. I don’t want some guy to mess with me just because he’s single and is too dumb to see how much I like him. I know, I know. Why not just tell him? Because he’s also a friend. And I’m 98% sure that he doesn’t see me in a romantic sense, but even if he did, from everything that I know of him, he’d be a horrible boyfriend – yet another reason why I’m moving on. But, I have to say. That kiss? Wow. I just wish it had been from C instead. *sighs*
In other news, I’ve had two job interviews in the last week – I wasn’t kidding when I said that it’s been a crazy last 10 days. One of the interviews was for a gaming company (I used to work for a gaming company, once upon a time) and happens to be located in Iceland. Yes. Iceland. I was actually offered the position last year but turned it down because I was too afraid to move again. I still don’t really want to move again, but the money and the opportunity would be amazing. I should find out some time this week. The second was a local interview for a library. But it’s only part time. Technically my job is part time. But I’ve not had less than 30 hours in the last month. Minus last week when I ended up in the hospital.
Oh yes. The hospital. I’ve been in a ridiculous amount of pain the last couple weeks and when I woke up last Thursday it was even worse. I ended up in the ER having a CT scam, X-ray and later, an MRI when I lost the feeling in my left leg. I won’t go into much detail but it was a pretty crappy time and I had a fairly bad experience due to the amount of pain I was in. While my diagnosis doesn’t answer all the questions that I have about what is wrong with me, I at least know why my back was in so much pain. I have a herniated disc and degenerative disc disease in my lower back. Which was caused by the freight that I pull at work. I didn’t have the back issues as recently as January. Clearly, something has to change, and soon.
Finally, Saturday (yesterday) I woke up at 230am, enjoyed a brisk 2 mile walk to work, worked 4am to 1pm and then spent a couple hours at the park with friends. It was a gorgeous day out. Bright blue skies, warm sunshine, fluffy white clouds and a cool breeze. I made and packed us a picnic lunch (minus a basket) consisting of bottled water, turkey and cheese sandwiches made on spinach wraps, granola bars and pringles. We laid out on a big blanket and soaked up some sunshine while listening to some music and chatting away. We also had a small water fight. A perfect end to a beautiful day. Seriously, is this not a gorgeous day?!
One last bit of news to share. I’m almost at my first weight loss goal of 20lbs! I’ve dropped almost two sizes! The jeans I wear now (which were snug in February) are now a tad too loose! I took a chance and tried on my absolutely favorite pair of jeans (which I’ve not been able to wear for almost three years now) and they fit PERFECTLY. I still have a ways to go (I want to lose about 60 lbs altogether, though this might change later) but this is a huge start and it makes me crazy happy :)
What have you been up to in the last week? What movies have you seen? Let me know by dropping a comment!
