Hello World, Meet Adonis!

Last year, I lost my beautiful orange tabby, Orion. In the weirdest fluke ever, Orion passed away from kidney failure (the same thing I’m trying to avoid currently). He was just over two years and one of the sweetest animals I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my life. Even though I missed having a beautiful, fluffy cat in my life, there was no way I ready to have another pet. But a little over a year later, I was ready to try again.

A co-worker of mine had several kittens (born on the 4th of July) that he needed to find good homes for. I was intrigued. He sent me pictures of several kittens that he still had. Two all black, a black and white striped and two white kittens. I instantly fell in love with one of the white kittens and asked to see them. After playing with them all for about an hour, I chose the one whose picture I’d fallen for and so two weeks ago, I adopted the fluffiest, silliest little ball of sass.

Everyone, meet Adonis!

hi Adonis! Sleepy Adonis

For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen some of these pictures, but how could you not fall in love with his adorable little punim (yiddish for face)? He’s absolutely beautiful (hence the reason I chose the name Adonis), extremely hyper, eats like 48 times a day, sleeps about 14 times a day and has the most pathetic and ridiculous meow ever. His ears, nose and paws are all pink and he is all white. He will definitely grow up to a beautiful cat.

Can't get over the cuteness Adonis in the sunlight

He already loves curling up next to me and sleeping all stretched out. He actually sits there and watches netflix with me – his little eyes darting back and forth, watching the characters move. He loves to explore and get into trouble. And his favorite past-time so far seems to be harassing my roommate’s all black cat, Pixel. Pixel is about 12 years old and definitely acts like a little grumpy old man. He definitely hated Adonis when I first brought him home. But now, he barely reacts, unless Adonis is eating Pixel’s food or, you know, tackles him like kittens do.

I still miss Orion. Like crazy. And I’ll never forget him. But I love little Adonis and I’m so happy that I have him in my life.

September Goals

I can’t believe that it’s already September. Where the heck has this year gone? It’s insanity. There have been so many good things that have happened. And yes, there may have been some not so great things, but the majority of this year has been positive and happy and I can’t wait to see how the rest of this year will go. In the meantime, I’m setting myself some goals for each month (I have to thank Kristen @ See You In A Porridge for the idea) and plan to spend each month seeing how many I can meet. As I’ve said before, I do love a challenge! My goals for September are the following:

— Lose 5 pounds. (I lost 5.5 pounds in August. And gained it back when I came down with a bronchial infection. So time to try again.)

— Stop drinking all sugary sodas from now until October 1st.

— Walk 160 miles. (In August, I walked a total of 140.3 miles. Now I want to add another 20 miles.)

— Create two skinny versions of meals that I love. (I created a Skinny Crustless Spinach Quiche last month and fell instantly in love with it.)

— Drink at least 2 bottles of water a day.

— Have an awesome 35th birthday party and takes lots of pictures.

— Get my actual journal back up to date.

So those are my goals for September. Not crazy, but not simple. I actually have to work to meet them, which is always a good thing. What do you hope to accomplish during the month of September? Leave a comment and let me know!

Mixes: Cinnamon & Cloves

The recent rainstorm that hit the Puget Sound this week made me feel all tingly and eager for autumn, even if I haven’t been ready for summer to end. The raindrops hitting the windows, the heavy, dark clouds, the cold winds all put me in the mood for a new autumn mix, so I spent and early morning putting one together with songs that invoke feelings of autumn in me. I hope you like it.
