Last year, I lost my beautiful orange tabby, Orion. In the weirdest fluke ever, Orion passed away from kidney failure (the same thing I’m trying to avoid currently). He was just over two years and one of the sweetest animals I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my life. Even though I missed having a beautiful, fluffy cat in my life, there was no way I ready to have another pet. But a little over a year later, I was ready to try again.
A co-worker of mine had several kittens (born on the 4th of July) that he needed to find good homes for. I was intrigued. He sent me pictures of several kittens that he still had. Two all black, a black and white striped and two white kittens. I instantly fell in love with one of the white kittens and asked to see them. After playing with them all for about an hour, I chose the one whose picture I’d fallen for and so two weeks ago, I adopted the fluffiest, silliest little ball of sass.
Everyone, meet Adonis!
For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen some of these pictures, but how could you not fall in love with his adorable little punim (yiddish for face)? He’s absolutely beautiful (hence the reason I chose the name Adonis), extremely hyper, eats like 48 times a day, sleeps about 14 times a day and has the most pathetic and ridiculous meow ever. His ears, nose and paws are all pink and he is all white. He will definitely grow up to a beautiful cat.
He already loves curling up next to me and sleeping all stretched out. He actually sits there and watches netflix with me – his little eyes darting back and forth, watching the characters move. He loves to explore and get into trouble. And his favorite past-time so far seems to be harassing my roommate’s all black cat, Pixel. Pixel is about 12 years old and definitely acts like a little grumpy old man. He definitely hated Adonis when I first brought him home. But now, he barely reacts, unless Adonis is eating Pixel’s food or, you know, tackles him like kittens do.
I still miss Orion. Like crazy. And I’ll never forget him. But I love little Adonis and I’m so happy that I have him in my life.
